Many locals are often asked “What’s the best beach Oahu?”

The responses will vary from person to person depending on what kind of beach you are looking for and often what you plan to do at the beach. If you want a beach to just hang out, catch some sun, and swim in water that has no waves that’s very safe, then Ala Moana beach park (in my opinion) would be a great place to start. As long as you get there early, you can easily find parking and the water is calm and a lot of fun to swim in.

To get some fun and mild “wave action” to play in, Waikiki may be a better place, BUT trying to find free parking stinks unless you don’t mind walking a few blocks to get there. The other place to go where the beach is a lot more “natural”, parking is free, and the waves are safe and fun would be to go to the windward side of the island to Kailua Beach Park or Waimanalo Beach Park. These 2 are considered by many as the “Best” beaches to go to. They’re a lot less crowded (usually) during the week and parking is ample if you go early enough on the weekend. Also, they have lifeguards, public showers to rinse off, and restrooms as well. Its also a really nice place to walk along sandy shoreline and get not feel like your going to step on someone.

There are several best beaches here; there’s not just one. The North Shore is home to some famous beaches such as Pipeline, Sunset, and Waimea Bay.

    Waikiki Beach is also famous.

Lanikai is beautiful, located in Kailua on the Windward side.

There are some beaches that I think are really good. Kailua Beach and Lanikai Beach. North Shore beaches are great, too :] NO TO WAIKIKI AND ALA MOANA. Waikiki and Ala Moana are super crowded and rocky.

I love Waikiki Beach for the very reason most people don’t like it….alot of people, I enjoy people. My other reason for loving Waikiki Beach is ‘Dukes’ is very accessible…Lanikai is absolutely a Fantasy Beach…on North Shore ‘Sunset’ and Waimea Bay, just watch the waves in the winter, they’re Huge and are not for beginners! Aloha
